FAQs About High-Pressure Testing Equipment
For your next water main or utility pipe testing project, United Rentals has the high-pressure testing equipment you need. We carry a range of high-pressure pipe plugs and double-bladder joint testing units from reliable manufacturers like Lansas and Cherne. Our inventory includes hydrostatic test plugs for pipes from 4 inches to 60 inches and joint testers for pipes from 33 inches to 77 inches. Many of our hydro test plugs offer a bypass for introducing test media, monitoring pressure and bleeding air from the line. With back pressure ratings up to 150 PSI, our equipment is ideal for isolating a section of pipe for testing and maintenance.

The size of the high-pressure pipe test plug you need depends on the interior diameter of the pipe you are testing. United Rentals offers a variety of pipe plugs that fit pipes ranging from 4 inches to 60 inches. Measure the inside diameter of your pipe to ensure you select the correct size for a secure fit and accurate test results.
Our high-pressure testing equipment is versatile and can be used to test a variety of pipe materials, including ductile iron, PVC, HDPE and steel. It is important to ensure that the material of the pipe you’re testing is rated to withstand the intended hydrostatic test pressure.
Calibrated and certified pressure gauges are available to rent alongside our high-pressure testing equipment. Please specify your need for certified gauges to a United Rentals representative to ensure your test setup meets all project and compliance requirements.
